Postage stamps: Tutankhamun related

A collection of postal stamps featuring objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun, mostly commemorating the 50th anniversary of the tomb's discovery in 1972.
Includes six first-day covers, one issued in Egypt and five issued by UK institutions.

King Tut's Pyramid Puzzle

  • Wood puzzle comprising four coloured blocks, which when correctly assembled form a pyramid shape.
  • Produced by Imperial Manufacturers, Chicago.

Souvenir spoon

  • Decorative souvenir spoon
  • Gold-tone metal with enamel decoration
  • Enamel decoration on upper surface, design from top: on handle, a modelled profile view of 'guardian statue' [Carter 22] (design includes the linen found draped over arm when discovered), standing on top of a winged scarab; on stem, geometric pattern on handle; on bowl, enamel-painted scene with a king or deity facing left, standing holding a staff, with pseudo-hieroglyphic texts above.

Belt buckle

  • A ladies' round belt buckle.
  • Moulded decoration, design features a selection of objects from the Antechamber.
  • Dark and light brown bakelite, goldtone metal fastenings, and also three sets of two holes along edge, for attaching to fabric(?).
  • Date not known, probably produced in the 1920s or 1930s.
  • Manufacturer, not known. Metal stud fastening stamped "К I И".

Earrings: guardian statue

  • Tutankhamun-related jewellery.
  • Pair of drop-shaped earrings, lotus-flower on clip, with guardian statue [Carter 22] design on pendant drops, clip-on fitting.
  • Goldtone metal decorated with enamel (black, red and white).
  • Manufacturer, not known.
  • Probably manufactured in the 1920s.

Brooch: box (21), lion hunt scene

  • Tutankhamun-related jewellery.
  • Brooch with a rectangular cabochon plaque featuring part of a scene from the lid of box 21 [Carter 21], with Tutankhamun hunting lions.
  • Silver decorated with enamel (light and dark blue, red, white and yellow) and opaque cream-coloured pressed glass with decoration highlighted in reddish-brown.
  • Hook clasp, stamped, silver hallmark "925"(?)
  • Plaque: Not indicated, but probably produced by the Neiger Brothers.
