Two albums containing approximately 460 black and white photographs taken by various members of the IFAO team during excavations at Deir el-Medîna during the 1920s and 30s. Photographs interspersed with some notes and drawings.

  • 35mm black and white transparencies, made from the drawings on the original set of object cards (TAA i.1.1-620).
  • Photographs made from these transparencies were affixed to the duplicate set of object cards to complete the information, see TAA iii.1.1-620.

    • Hieroglyphic inscriptions, transcriptions and translations - Mostly Alan H. Gardiner and P. E. Newberry, but some inscriptions are transcribed by Carter

Object cards: typewritten copy

  • Complete set of typescript copies transcribed from the original Tutankhamun object cards, with affixed photographs of the drawings on the cards, again made from the original set, see TAA i.1.1-620.
  • Created in the Griffith Institute and used as a consultation set for visiting researchers until the publication of the records online.
  • Transferred to the Swaffham Museum in Norfolk on 22 March 2024.

Amherst, (Lady) Alicia Margaret - correspondence

Correspondence from Lady Alicia Margaret Amherst (5th daughter of Lord Amherst of Hackney; married 1898, Sir Evelyn Gascoyne-Cecil) mostly relating to research for her book on the history of gardening. Correspondence 1907 relating to the need to raise money, the sale of books and asking Newberry to seek an interview with Carnegie on the families behalf.

Correspondence from Lady Margaret Susan Amherst (d. 1919) (wife of Lord Amherst of Hackney) relating to: Newberry's work at Tel el Armana and Beni Hassan; the purchase of items including requests that Newberry purchase certain items on their behalf; Howard Carter's appointment; fraud and sale of house and belongings (1906); Newberry's divorce trial.

Hieratic versions are drawn from Möller Hieratische Paläographie Vol. I (6th to 13th dynasties), of which 'Sinuhe' provides the majority of the examples, by R. B. & H. Parkinson (1988-1989).
