- Mostly World War I correspondence, written whilst on active service. The letters are addressed to his family in general, but the content has been tailored for his young daughter Patricia. References to “Mamie” refer to his wife, Mary Florence Lawton “Rita”, who presumably would read the letters to Patricia.
- Two empty additional envelopes; they do not seem to relate to any of the letters of this group.
- Still in family possession: 1) no location stated, 31/10/1917; “Dear Mamie”; continuation of the adventures of Too and Tee; & 2) no location stated, 14/07/1918; “My dear Patricia”; continuation of the adventures of Too and Tee. Also in family possession: letter from Peet aged 6 years to his father: [Liverpool], 24/08/ (envelope: 25/08/1888). Scans available, no GI copyright.
